last Alzheimer square

I posted the final Alzheimer's square yesterday, called Time Slips Away.

It's a granny design, worked on the bias, and is definitely one of my favorites in the bunch.

I unfortunately didn't take very good photos.... but you get the general idea.

Want to join in? It's not too late. I'm gifting the entire e-book to anyone who is interested in joining the CAL for the next week or so... and we'll be CALing along for another few weeks at least

Alzheimer's CAL - week 3 - two new squares

for sale - all sales go towards Alzheimer's Research

Every year, I make an afghan using granny squares and ripples (my grandmother’s two favorite afghans), and my mom & I sell raffle tickets to raise money for Alzheimer’s Research.

The Longest Day - download for free

This year, I’m designing as I’m stitching, and I’m inviting everyone to join in! I have plans for at least 8 squares - some worked flat, and some in the round - and most will be granny or ripple related.
This week, I bring an easy, cluster stitch sampler style square, worked flat. Simple enough for beginners, but fun for anyone to crochet, this is a quick to stitch design that is great in solids or in stripes.
While we’re stitching, all of the squares will be free. After we’re done, all the patterns will be available for sale, with 100% of the sales going towards Alzheimer’s Research.
Won’t you please join us? We started a few weeks ago, but new people are joining us every day!

Friday FO

Every GREAT once in a while, I get to actually make something just for fun - and even less rarely, sometimes I actually get to make something for ME.

Today's FO is one such example... I knitted a shawl, just for fun, just for me, using one of my favorite designer's patterns... Robin by Lee Meredith.

I stashbusted, and used Caron's Simply Soft for all 3 colors.

The shawl came out huge, it's bright, and I just love love love it. It'll be my hang-out-in-front-of-the-bonfire shawl, where I won't have to worry if it gets dirty because it's machine washable, and the goodness of garter stitch means it doesn't need any blocking (other than the steam blocking it got when I finished, that is). It's the perfect end-of-the-day chilly night shawl...

Alzheimer's CAL

(squares photographed with our cat, Wedgie)

for sale on Ravelry - all sales go towards Alzheimer's research

This year, I’m designing as I’m stitching, and I’m inviting everyone to join in! I have plans for at least 8 squares - some worked flat, and some in the round - and most will be granny or ripple related.
Of course, I have to have at least one or two types of traditional granny squares in the mix - this one is 4 smaller granny squares, put together.

While we’re stitching, all of the squares will be free. After we’re done, all the patterns will be available for sale, with 100% of the sales going towards Alzheimer’s Research.
